Another year has come to a close, and with it, nearly 700 animals were cared for by the Brown County Humane Society. This incredible achievement was made possible by your shared compassion for homeless animals. Here’s a look at some of the amazing things you helped accomplish in 2024:
Thanks to the generosity of our community of supporters, volunteers, and advocates, BCHS reached an impressive save rate of nearly 98%. This marks the eighth consecutive year we’ve achieved a save rate of 98% or higher, far exceeding the national average of approximately 83%. This success was made possible by:
- 154 dogs and 362 cats finding loving forever homes through adoption.
- 84 lost pets being reunited with their families.
- 208 animals receiving care in our dedicated foster homes, including those who were sick, injured, or too young to thrive on their own.
Your support makes BCHS one of the top-performing shelters in the country—thank you!
But it wasn’t just shelter pets that benefitted from your kindness last year. Through our Serving Pets Outreach Program (SPOT), hundreds of families received assistance for their pets, including spay/neuter surgeries, food supplies, and straw to keep outdoor animals warm.
The SPOT team celebrated a major milestone, fixing its 10,000th community pet since the program began in 2010. This incredible achievement has prevented the birth of thousands of unwanted animals in our community.
Additionally, our annual Rabies Vaccination Clinic provided vaccinations to 494 Brown County dogs and cats, a 50% increase from 2023, ensuring even more pets stayed healthy. The growing need in our community underscores the importance of your ongoing support.
None of this would have been possible without you. Whether you donated food, attended an event, made a monetary gift, adopted a pet, or supported us in another way, you helped save hundreds of lives in 2024.
With your continued partnership, we’re excited to see what amazing things we can accomplish together in the coming year!
