From the looks of Bolero, he had been around the block once or twice. And he didn’t mind letting everyone at the shelter know he was top cat and NOT happy about being in the shelter.
He liked to intimidate people by slapping at them if they got near. Shelter staff worked with him for a few weeks and figured out he was very food motivated, but still he was not settling in at the shelter.
Bolero was moved to a foster home to see if he would calm down and relax in a quieter, more predictive environment.
