You can tell by his huge smile that Coleman is a happy dog, and the reason is that he is going to spend time with you, the most fun he can imagine.
When Coleman gets leashed up for a walk, his tail starts wagging. On his lead, he stays close by. Throw a ball for him to retrieve and Coleman dutifully chases it, but only because he gets to run back to you for petting.
Go down to the creek and he can’t find anything more interesting than you—wait! What was that that jumped into and across the water? A frog? Let’s catch it! Splash! Now when Coleman runs back to your side, he’s dripping wet! And as you laugh at him, he seems to be laughing right along with you.
