In an effort to try and help some of our long-stay dogs find their forever home, we have decided to launch our Foster to Family program! Have you been considering adopting a dog, but are worried about committing without knowing if a dog is really “the one”? Then keep reading!

The Foster to Family program allows qualifying dogs to go home with approved fosters for a maximum of two weeks in order to give everyone time to begin adjusting to one another and see if it is a good match. Once the two-week period is over, the foster can complete the adoption or return the dog to us. The wonderful part is even if it does not work out with a specific family, it gives the dog a much-needed break from the shelter and helps us gain valuable insight into that dog’s behavior in a home to help find its perfect match in the future.

At this time, the following dogs are currently available for our Foster to Family program: Ace, Bodhi, Chewi, Clementine, Dresden, Sky and Sydney.

If you are interested in meeting any of these dogs, please visit the shelter (we are open Noon to 5pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday). You can also complete an online adoption application and a staff member will reach out to discuss any questions you have.

Foster applicants will follow the standard application approval process. Approved fosters will be required to complete a foster contract and pay a $50 deposit that will either be refunded or go toward that dog’s adoption fee when finalized.
