In January, 2024 was declared Inga’s year to find her forever home.

We have less than 3 months to keep that promise.

She has lived 54% of her life in a shelter. Arriving at a year and a half, she’s grown up and experienced her teenage years in a shelter. Now at over three years of age she has proven to be an extremely resilient dog and deserves a home of her own with people who love her.
You ask – why is she still there? The short answer is she has a difficult time making new friends. But once she trusts you, she is a fun, affectionate and loyal dog.
We are looking for a very committed, special person or family who will work with Inga to go at her pace to ensure she feels safe. We know she can thrive in the right environment and will bring much joy to the right person. To find that special person listed below are her amazing traits and her special needs.
It is our hope that by sharing all the details, someone will look at this and think “I can be her person!”. If she isn’t the right fit for you, please share this post as it can truly help her find the perfect adopter.
The Amazing Things About Inga:
  • She is super smart, loves to learn and is very intuitive. It’s almost like she can read your mind.
  • She loves to experience the great outdoors – running in the yard, chasing balls, stretching out in the grass on a warm sunny day.
  • She is the perfect mix of energetic and chill. After some invigorating outdoor play, she’ll hop up on your couch (if allowed, of course!) and hang out next to you, enjoying all the cuddles you give her.
  • While Inga may be a bit selective with her doggy friends, she generally loves to engage with other dogs who are up for some rowdy play. Playing chase is her favorite.
  • Once you’ve earned her friendship, you’ll experience the joy of having a truly faithful buddy who makes you feel incredibly special. It’s a journey that requires patience, but the reward is a lifetime of loyal companionship.
  • Inga has a well-established relationship with a wonderful trainer who is committed to helping Inga transition to a new home. We have an Inga training fund that will cover the cost of several sessions.
Inga’s Requirements for a Forever Home:
  • An adult-only home or a home with older children (17 and older)
  • A cat-free home
  • A quiet, calm home with minimal visitors
  • A family willing to manage her interactions with new people
  • She enjoys car rides, especially to get ice cream at the drive-through, but will not be comfortable going to pet stores, dog parks, events or other gatherings of people
  • Time to trust you on her terms. On your first visit with Inga, you will probably not be able to interact with her. It will take several meetings and staff-assisted home visits before Inga will be comfortable staying with an adopter.
Don’t miss the opportunity to bring Inga into your life. With her unique blend of independence, loyalty, affection and intelligence, she’s the perfect furry friend for those seeking a canine companion that’s truly one of a kind.
