Welcome to the Brown County Humane Society Web Site.  Please visit our web often to learn about upcoming events and see the current selection of animals available for adoption

Two of our Volunteers are Finalists for Animal Planet's Hero of the Year & Cat Hero of the Year awards.

Out of THOUSANDS of submissions, only 10 people in each Animal Planet category of Hero of the Year and

Cat Hero of the Year have been selected.  Two of those, Cathi Eagan and Jody Rainbolt, are faithful, hardworking volunteers from the Brown County Humane Society!!

One of the 10 finalists in each category will win either $5000 or $10,000 for their favorite shelter.  Online voting is the method used to determine the winners.  We need you help.  Go to the Animal Planet's website (see below) read their stories and vote for both of these remarkable women. Voting ends on Oct 13.

Our Mission

The mission of the Brown County Humane Society is to be a community resource dedicated to promoting the welfare of all animals in our county.  We provide temporary shelter to pets in need and promote adoption of homeless pets into loving, permanent homes.  We advocate respect for animals through public education concerning responsible pet ownership.  We support and promote spaying and neutering to ultimately eliminate pet overpopulation in our community.

Cats At PetCo in Bloomington

We will have four of our most loving cats hanging out at the Bloomington PetCo looking for their forever homes.  Even if you can't adopt one, just stop by for a visit and let them know how beautiful they are.
